The Lego Group has officially inaugurated its new manufacturing facility in Vietnam, marking a significant investment in the company’s global expansion strategy and commitment to sustainable operations.
The new site, located in Binh Duong province near Ho Chi Minh City, is the Danish, family-owned company’s sixth factory worldwide and its second in Asia.
With an investment of US$1 billion, the facility covers 44 hectares and features five buildings of over 150,000 square metres, including high-tech production lines, administrative offices, and green infrastructure.
The factory is designed to support long-term growth across the Asia-Pacific region, enabling the company to meet rising demand for its ubiquitous products.
According to the company, sustainability is at the core of the project. The Vietnam facility is the group’s most environmentally sustainable factory to date, incorporating over 12,000 rooftop solar panels and backed by a strategic energy partnership with Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park ( VSIP ). This collaboration includes Vietnam’s first industrial-scale battery storage facility, aimed at achieving 100% renewable energy operations by early 2026.
In addition, the site boasts Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design ( LEED ) Platinum certification for its administrative and play pavilion buildings, and LEED Gold for its core manufacturing facilities. It is also the company’s first factory to fully transition to paper-based pre-pack bags, replacing single-use plastics and supporting the Lego Group’s broader packaging commitments.
