BNY Mellon has appointed Alejandro Perez as chief operating officer for global market infrastructure ( GMI ). Perez is a market structure veteran, having spent the majority of his 25-year career focused on business strategy at several market-leading firms.

In his new role, he will work closely with Robin Vince, vice chair and chief executive officer of GMI, and the leaders across BNY Mellon’s GMI businesses ( clearance & collateral management, treasury services, markets and execution services and Pershing ) to help the firm maximize opportunities for closer collaboration and product integration.

In his previous roles at Goldman Sachs, Bloomberg and, most recently, at fintech Unqork, Perez established a strong record of not only building and operating businesses, but also developing new products and capabilities. He also has lengthy experience leading relationship management teams and managing complex M&A integrations.
