Munich Re has appointed Michaela Hannemann as regional head of casualty treaty underwriting for Japan, Korea, India, and Southeast, with effect from September 27. Based in Singapore, Hannemann reports to Roland Eckl, chief executive, Asia-Pacific ( Japan, Korea, India, and Southeast Asia ).
Prior to joining Munich Re, Hannemann was at Gen Re, where she has spent her reinsurance career since 2002. Following her law degree, she joined Gen Re in Cologne as a wording specialist, providing support to all international property and casualty ( P&C ) units, and then became senior treaty liability underwriter before taking on senior account executive responsibilities that spanned the German-speaking markets and the United Kingdom & Ireland.
In 2016, she was appointed treaty P&C manager and head of casualty at Gen Re in London, where she led client servicing across all lines of business. In 2020, she took on her most recent role as the lead of the London Market Treaty Broker Facility of the Faraday/Gen Re joint venture.
