Michael Marray   9 Apr 2025

Masdar’s Spanish subsidiary Saeta Yield has acquired Valle Solar, the largest photovoltaic project in Spain’s Valencia region.

The sellers were Solar Ventures and Genia Solar Energy, which were advised by Watson Farley & Williams. Saeta Yield was advised by Broseta and Perez-Llorca.

The project is at a ready-to-build status and has a total capacity of 234 megawatts. It includes plans for a battery energy storage system ( BESS ) hybrid project with a potential capacity of 259MW to enhance grid stability.

Solar Ventures is an independent power producer ( IPP ) that develops, builds and finances utility-scale PV plants worldwide, with a focus on emerging markets where it has been active since 2008.

Renewable energy engineering and promotion group Genia Solar has developed grid-connected projects that account for 2.5% of Spain’s total installed power capacity.

Madrid-headquartered energy company Saeta Yield manages a portfolio of 789MW of wind and solar thermal energy in Spain and 144MW in Portugal.

It was acquired by Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company ( Masdar ) in 2024.
